Portland Oregon based artist Olivia Smith has a passion for printmaking and textile design. Starting with the tactile joys of wood block carving, she soon found a boundless vigor for the medium. Mixing inks and revealing prints gives her a sense of accomplishment after all the labors of carving the wood block. As she studied and experimented with textile design, Olivia realized her work could be featured on garments and home fashion that a wide audience could see and enjoy. Mixing her fine art practice and interest in fashion provided the perfect blend to pursue her passion.

 

Olivia's artistic practice consists of not only printmaking and textile design, but also features figure drawing, fibers art, painting and sculpture. She is always on the hunt for new mediums and techniques to add to her skillset. She loves sharing her knowledge with others and is currently teaching reduction printmaking classes and punch needle rug making at a local studio school. Olivia prides herself on being a creator, collaborator, patient teacher, and fast learner.
